About us

Our Story
The medical world can be overwhelming—especially for kids.
At Hello Brave, we believe that knowledge is power, and when children understand their diagnosis and treatment, they face challenges with less fear and more confidence.

Hello Brave was founded from personal experience. When one of our co-founders’ 8-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer, she struggled to find age-appropriate resources to help him process what was happening. That experience inspired a mission: to create engaging, educational tools that make complex medical diagnoses and procedures more approachable for kids.
Our Mission
Hello Brave is dedicated to supporting children and families facing serious medical diagnoses by providing educational resources and school-based programming and support.
Our Vision
We envision a world where every child facing a medical challenge feels informed, empowered, and supported—both in the hospital and at school. Through books, education, and community outreach, we are here to help kids, parents, and schools navigate childhood illness together.
what we do
Our children’s books help kids navigate their diagnosis with clear, comforting information, told through the eyes of a Brave Kid and their wise Brave Buddy. Our first two books, A Brave Kid’s Guide to Lymphoma and A Brave Kid’s Guide to Leukemia, are already helping families and hospitals across the country, with more books in development.

But our work doesn’t stop there. We are expanding into schools, providing education and support at the time of a child’s diagnosis and again at reentry. By fostering understanding and empathy among classmates, we aim to reduce bullying, ease anxiety, and create a more inclusive school community.
